Marc Jacobs

From humble beginnings to namesake empire, Marc Jacobs has shaped the fashion industry from
his hometown of New York City over the past 30 years. He developed a sense of both freedom
and focus in fashion as a teenager while living with his grandmother in Manhattan’s Upper West
Side, studying design by day and working in upscale clothing boutiques after school. Celebrated
by his alma mater Parsons as well as the CFDA, he went on to design for Perry Ellis before
founding his eponymous label in 1993. Named creative director for Louis Vuitton in 1997, he
balanced both roles until 2014 and has since focused solely on his namesake label and diffusion
lines including womenswear, menswear, children’s, shoes, handbags, beauty and accessories.
