During the 1970s a group of Japanese scientists have noticed that the women, who worked in the sake breweries, had softer and more youthful skin. With a goal of finding the explanation followed by years of research, they were able to isolate the nutrient-rich liquid in the yeast that they called Pitera. Japanese branch of Max Factor was fast to react — they have acquired the rights for this ingredient in 1980 and launched a new product line, that was later named SK II. Today SK II is famous for their numerous rejuvenating products and is one of the most effective luxury skincare brands in the world.
