At 14, Kimberley Newport-Mimran discovered her affinity toward fashion while working as a retail sales associate in her Canadian home town of Niagara Falls. She decided to study apparel manufacturing management at George Brown College and started her career on the buying team at the Hudson's Bay Company, Canada's oldest retailer. A few years later, she joined Club Monaco, where she met future Pink Tartan co-founder, and her now husband, Joseph Mimran. Established in 2002, Pink Tartan focuses on modern sportswear and sophisticated staples that accommodate lifestyles of today’s working woman looking for elegance in everyday wear. Of the mindset that fashion should be fun, the designer often intersperses experimental creations alongside foundational wardrobe pieces with the release of each season’s collection. In addition to producing her ready-to-wear line, the designer has also created uniforms for New York CIty’s 60 Thompson rooftop bar, Toronto's Windsor Arms and Air Canada Centre, and the concierge team at Holt Renfrew stores throughout Canada.
